Our Story
Mr. Colette, before known as Swivels & Bow, was born in an improvised manner and without any external investment in March 2017.
I, Mónica Ramón, was 27 years old. Seven years ago I had finished my studies of fashion design in Barreira Arte+Diseño and, after that, I studied two years more of industrial pattern combined with studies of lingerie and bathing clothes pattern and tailoring.
| I felt my vocation and at a very young age
I was 18 years old when I started to dress in a vintage 50s style that I loved since I was a child. I spent hours at the time watching Rockabilly artists on TV and old magazines and then I rescued clothes from my two grandmothers and tried to do the same.
I learnt how to sew from my mother and my grandmothers who always made us gorgeous clothes. From those beautiful moments, I felt my vocation and at a very young age started to make my own garments and to customize my clothes because I had issues finding the clothes that really suit my personality.
At the time, I had worked for different fashion brands and was not thinking of creating one of my own, but when dancing, felt the need of using more comfortable and fresh clothes, femenine and beautiful that could be used dancing the whole night and still look perfect. At that moment I started creating my own clothes adapted to my new needs. People began to show interest in the outfits I wore and when I said that I designed and sewn it, the first orders came. This is how this beautiful project was born.
Almost without realizing it, my passion became my job. I started traveling to international festivals where teachers, musicians and dancers bought my garments. Thanks to their recommendations I could grow up and expand my business worldwide.
2020 and 2021 have been years of changes, growth and restructures, always knowing that the identity of the brand will be united to my personal values.
The project matured, changed and got better and finally Swivels & Bow was transformed into Mr. Colette.
We still are present in festivals and social media, close to our dear customers and also expanded our range of products and fabrics.
I want to thank all the people who have made this dream possible and to all the people who support small personal projects with their purchases.
